PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval system, particularly a system for processing a plurality of query languages, a method and software. SOLUTION: An exemplary embodiment includes a process for receiving description of a query language and a process for automatically constituting a language converter on the basis of the received description of the query language. The language converter or a language translator can be used to adapt the system to a change in query languages. The method includes a step of receiving the description of the query language and a step of automatically constituting the language converter on the basis of the received description of the query language. The system includes a means for receiving the description of the query language and a means for automatically constituting the language converter on the basis of the received query language.
