The waffle iron has a lower cooking plate (6) placed in a horizontal position in utilization condition and provided with an indentation that is provided with crossed grooves, where the crossed grooves are provided with studs. An upper cooking plate (5) is provided with an indentation that is turned downwards. The two cooking plates are supported one against the other in a closing position according to a horizontal bond line. Space is formed between cavities of the two cooking plates, where the depth of the indentation of the upper cooking plate is not greater than depth of the grooves.
