Granular anion-exchange resins are prepared by adding from 0.6 to 1.75 mole proportions of ammonia to one mole proportion of epichlorhydrin dissolved in from 2 to 10 volumes, on the basis of the volume of the epichlorhydrin, of a polyhalogenated C1- 3 aliphatic hydrocarbon, at a temperature between 40 DEG and 100 DEG C. and maintaining the temperature until completion of the reaction. The hydrocarbon has a specific gravity at 25 DEG C. of 1.1 to 1.7 and a boiling-point between 20 DEG and 120 DEG C. and is suitably methylene chloride, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, 1,1,2-trichloro1,2,2 -trifluoroethane or a mixture of two or more thereof. |
