PURPOSE: A method for increasing color gamut and a display device using the same are provided to implement an optimal brightness by the purpose. CONSTITUTION: A method for increasing color gamut in a display device comprises steps of: determining RGB data value by pixel(S10); setting a correlated color temperature of RGB data by pixel(S13); creating color coordinate of X and Y about the correlated color temperature(S15); converting the color coordinate of the X and Y into a tristimulus value(S17); and compensating the brightness of RGB data by pixel according to the set correlated color temperature(S21).
