PURPOSE: A propulsion system for a ship is provided to improve safety and operationality by horizontally steering a ship during backward movement. CONSTITUTION: A propulsion system for a ship comprises a guide cap(32), an impeller(40), a nozzle(50), and a steering ring(60). A passage for guiding a stream is formed in the guide cap. The impeller has a main body and a propeller connected to the main body. One end of the nozzle is coupled to the main body of the impeller, and the impeller is extended from the rear of the outlet of the main body. The steering ring is installed in the edge of the nozzle and is beaten by the nozzle.
