Provided is a gas sensor wherein the holding of a sensor element by a contact member and the securement of the electric continuity between the sensor element and the contact member can be stably performed. Specifically provided is a gas sensor provided with a sensor element, and a contact member which establishes an electric connection with the sensor element by inserting and holding the sensor element in an insertion port. The contact member is provided with a plurality of sensor element holding members each having a plurality of contact portions that are in contact with the sensor element, at least some of the plurality of contact portions are first contact portions each having a linear or point-shaped front end section, and the front end section of the first contact portion is a free end which causes elastic force to act on the sensor element while being in point contact or line contact with the sensor element.
