On a conventional substrate for a liquid ejection head, which comprises a plurality of ink supply ports, energy generating elements cannot be arranged at a high density when a wiring line is provided on the substrate between each adjacent elements. A substrate for a liquid ejection head according to the present invention comprises: an element array wherein a plurality of elements for generating energy for liquid ejection are arranged; a first common wiring line; a second common wiring line; first separate wiring lines for respectively connecting the elements with the first common wiring line; and second separate wiring lines for respectively connecting the elements with the second common wiring line. The element array is provided between the first common wiring line and the second common wiring line. The first separate wiring lines are provided in the region between the element array and the first common wiring line, and the second separate wiring lines are provided in the region between the element array and the second common wiring line.
