PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specifically prevent the roundness of an outer ring from deteriorating, while reducing its weight, in a bearing unit in which a vehicle wheel is mounted on a vehicle body. SOLUTION: The bearing unit for rotatably mounting the wheel on the vehicle includes an outer ring member having a plurality of raceways on the inner periphery, an inner ring member having a plurality of raceways on the outer periphery and a plurality of rolling elements disposed between the inner ring member and the outer ring member. A flange to be mounted on the suspension device of the vehicle body is formed on the outer periphery of the outer ring member, and a flange for mounting the wheel is formed at one side end of the inner ring member. At least a plurality of ribs extend from the side opposite to a face for mounting the suspension device on the flange to be mounted on the suspension device of the vehicle body toward the axial outer ring end.
