PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generation system, wherein the lifespan of a power storage means is extended, while suppressing an influence on a power system, of fluctuations in electric power generated by a generator. SOLUTION: This power generation system (solar power generation system 1) is equipped with: the generator 2 which is interlinked with the power system 50 and generates power by utilizing solar light; the power storage means 3 storing power; a generated power detecting section 8 for detecting power passing through a predetermined portion of a wiring between the generator 2 and the power system 50; and a charging discharging control section 5 for controlling the charging and discharging of the power storage means 3. The charging discharging control section 5 is configured to control the charging and discharging of the power storage means 3 when the amount of generated power of the generator 2 is not less than the predetermined amount of power generation, and the amount of change of power detected by the generated power detecting means 8 is not less than the predetermined amount of change.
