Disclosed are organic electroluminescence elements, wherein the luminous efficiency of the organic electroluminescence element which emits blue light is improved, upon adopting a protection layer sealing form. A display device comprises a plurality of organic electroluminescence elements (11, 12, 13), a protection layer (6) that covers the plurality of organic electroluminescence elements, and an optical adjustment layer (5) provided in between a second electrode (4) of the organic electroluminescence elements and the protection layer (6). The optical adjustment layer (5) comprises a first optical adjustment layer in contact with the second electrode (4), and a second optical adjustment layer in contact with the first optical adjustment layer. The first optical adjustment layer and the second optical adjustment layer have refractive indices different from each other, and each of the optical adjustment layers is arranged with a common film thickness across the plurality of organic electroluminescence elements. Each of the film thicknesses is configured such that, for light emitted by a light emitting layer of the blue light organic electroluminescence element, the phase when reflection occurs at the interface between the second electrode and the first optical adjustment layer, the phase when reflection occurs at the interface between the first optical adjustment layer and the second optical adjustment layer, and the phase when reflection occurs at the interface at the protection layer side of the second optical adjustment layer are the same. |
