PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain ion beams with high directivity and stably high intensity. SOLUTION: An ion beam irradiation apparatus 10 can be regarded as a structure made by combining an ion/electron generator 20 of a laser-actuated type with an ion transporter 30, and guides ion beams of low directivity generated by the ion/electron generator 20 to the end by enhancing the directivity of them or focusing them in the ion transporter 30. In the ion transporter 30, an electron absorber 33 is placed around a beam line 31 upstream from multipolar magnets 32 in the flow of the ion beams. The electron absorber 33 is made of a material which can effectively absorb high energy electrons (for example, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and the like).
