The apparatus has a heating device operated with heat transfer medium. The device includes a valve i.e. thermostatic valve, and a pump. A room temperature thermostat (3) and either of a flow thermostat (1) i.e. ring body, and a return thermostat (2) or the pump are arranged such that a maximum temperature difference between flow and return temperatures is determined as a function of the flow temperature, room temperature or combination of the flow and room temperatures. Heat transfer medium flow is controlled by the device such that the temperature difference is maintained.
