The method involves accommodating a converter core (116) with an electric-acoustic converter element (118) in a housing (112), and sealing a radiation opening (128) of the housing against fluid medium (126) with a sealing element (134). A housing part is produced by a plastic molding process, and the sealing element is inserted into a molding cavity of a molding tool. The molding tool is filled with plastic material, and the housing part is connected with the sealing element during the molding process. An independent claim is also included for an ultrasonic converter comprising a sealing element for sealing a radiation opening of a housing.
