PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a glass film, by which breaking of thin sheet glass occurring in the extension molding is prevented to be able to form a thin thickness wide film and which is also used for a flat panel display or the glass substrate of an electronic device such as a solar cell. SOLUTION: The glass film 5 is manufactured by heating base glass having≥100 mm width and≥0.2 mm thickness in a heating furnace 3 and stretching the base glass by a takeoff roller 4 to have 5-300 mm width and 1-150μm thickness.
