The deflector has a fixable deflector element (30) made of flexible laminar material and fastened to a fixed roof section with a lower boundary region and to a pivotable extender brace with an upper boundary region by a strip (32). The extender brace comprises a brace body (24) that is made of plastic, where the strip of the deflector element is fixed at the brace body after a welding process. A plastic fixing device comprises a plastic pin that engages in a recess of the strip body. A groove-like recess (28) is formed on a lower side of the brace body. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a wind deflector.
