PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant factory which can continuously be operated in a simple device structure for a relatively long time without needing an expensive device and an expensive apparatus; and to provide a method for operating the same. SOLUTION: There are provided the plant factory comprising at least one culture bed, a nutritious liquid tank, a nutritious liquid-supplying line for connecting the nutritious liquid tank to the culture beds, a nutritious liquid-returning line for connecting the culture beds to the nutritious liquid tank, and a pump for circulating the nutritious liquid between the culture beds and the nutritious liquid tank. The factory is characterized by having a water-replenishing device for replenishing water to the nutritious liquid tank, and at least one liquid fertilizer-replenishing device for replenishing the liquid fertilizer to the nutritious liquid tank at a set flow rate per unit time; and the method for operating the same.
