<p>An upsetting press with two female dies and three punches is disclosed, wherein the first punch (3) and the second punch (4) are installed on a lifting plate (2), and the third punch (5) is utilized as a trimming punch or a forging punch and is installed on a large slide block (1). The first female die (6) is located corresponding to the first punch (3) and the second punch (4), and the second female die (7) is located corresponding to the third punch (5). The axial lines of the second female die (7) and the third punch (5) are maintained on a same straight line. The method for operating the upsetting press is also disclosed, wherein a workpiece is formed after a crankshaft (41) rotates every two times. When the large slide block (1) performs upset for the first time, a blank is upset to a first-upset semi-finished product (96) by the first punch (3) and is maintained in the first female die (6), the second-upset semi-finished product (97) is upset to a finished product (98) by the third punch (5) and is ejected out. When the large slide block (1) performs upset for the second time, the first-upset semi-finished product (96) is upset to the second-upset semi-finished product (97) by the second punch (4) and is ejected out, and the third punch (5) strikes idly.
