<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knock-type writing utensil which has a cam groove of a nearly heart-shaped cam and a stopper engaging with the cam groove so as to allow a refill to be retracted by a knocking operation and which has this stopper formed into a clip, in which rotary movement and forward/backward movement of a knock member is not interfered even if the stopper comes off from the cam groove during the operation. <P>SOLUTION: A pusher 18 and a knock 17 for delivering the refill 2 are provided inside a barrel 1 in which the refill 2 is housed. The barrel has the clip 7, in which the stopper 12 protruding into the barrel is provided. The pusher 18 is mounted with a cam cylinder 36 rotatably, in which the cam groove 37 is formed for the tip end of the stopper to enter. In the cam groove, there are formed an advancing groove part 38, a receiving groove part 39, a retreating groove part 40, a housing groove part 41 and a holding groove part 45.
