Oral care composition comprising ovomucin and mannoprotein

An oral care composition (A) comprises (a) a mucus-like agent containing ovomucin (OM) and (b) an emulsifier or mannoprotein, provided that if (b) is an emulsifier then (a) has a sialic acid content of 1.5-2.5 wt. %. Independent claims are included for: (i) the use of a combination of OM with at least one other mucus-like agent (I), selected from carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyalkyl cellulose, water-soluble and swellable salts of polyacrylic acid, alginates, carrageenates, guar gum, high molecular polyacrylates and/or animal mucins, as additives in the production of oral care compositions; (ii) a solid formulation containing a combination of OM, (I) and optionally furthger additives, for dissolution in water or aqueous ethanol for production of an oral care composition; and (iii) the production of an oral care composition by mixing a mucus-like agent containing OM and having a sialic acid content of 1.5-2.5 wt. % (based on dry weight) with an aqueous solution containing an emulsifier.
