1,121,969. Strap fastenings. ETUDES ET FABRICATIONS AERONAUTIQUES. 29 March, 1967 [5 April, 1966], No. 14288/67. Heading E2A. A releasable fastening device for a parachute comprises a ring A adapted to be connected to a parachute strap and cooperating with an abutment 8 on a complementary part to be carried by a harness, the abutment, which retains the ring having a support face 10 therefor which is perpendicular to a base B which carries the abutment 8. As shown the ring is retained against the abutment 8 by a resilient strip 16 attached to the inside of a lever C pivoted to the base about a pin 12. A pair of mutually spring-loaded locking devices D, D, retains the cover C in operative position, each locking device including a locking element 17 which extends into apertures 18, 19 formed respectively in a flange 3 of the base B and the cover C. A safety cover F comprising a plate 42 is secured to a pair of arms 44 which are pivoted about the pin 12 and which in the operated positions are snap-engaged with side walls of the cover, in which position the cover F prevents operation of the locking elements 17. A plate 30 is normally urged by a spring 34 into abutment with an edge portion of the cover C, so that as that cover is pivoted towards the release position, the plate 30 is urged against the ring A to eject the latter from the base B. The base B is attached to the harness through straps S<SP>2</SP> and S<SP>3</SP> and a sliding bar buckle a. |
