METHOD FOR SURGICAL TREATMENT OF THROMBOEMBOLIC PULMONARY HYPERTENSION

A method for the surgical treatment of thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension comprises thrombendarterectomy in the setting of the artificial blood circulation and cooling the body of the patient. Thrombendarterectomy covers all possible segmental and subsegmental branches of both pulmonary arteries. The body of the patient is cooled to the temperature of 18 °C. Several times the blood circulation is arrested completely for the period up to 20 min with reperfusion periods of 10-15 min. When the surgical field becomes relatively blood-free, thrombendarterectomy is performed with the aid of suction tips and the vascular spoons.
