<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus capable of reducing the frequency of detection of a recording agent residual amount and obtaining accurate information regarding the recording agent residual amount, and to provide a control method of the printing apparatus and program. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 10 is provided with a CPU 31, a nonvolatile memory 36 a cartridge 50 and a nonvolatile memory 60. The CPU 31 prints a video signal of an image onto a sheet and discharges the sheet, and stores the number of discharged sheets into the nonvolatile memory 36 of a print engine 30. Next, the CPU 31 accesses the nonvolatile memory 60 of the cartridge 50 and refers to toner residual amount information. If there is no sufficient toner residual amount of the cartridge 50, a toner residual amount detection is executed each time printing of one page has been performed; whereas if there is sufficient toner residual amount of the cartridge 50, the toner residual amount detection is executed, when the number of discharged sheets coincides with a predetermined value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
