PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a urethane bond-containing triol compound which shows moisturizing properties and properties excellent in a feeling of use to the skin and is useful as a moisturizing component in a cosmetic and the like and a humectant using the compound. SOLUTION: The urethane bond-containing triol compound is represented by formula (1) [wherein R is HO-(CH<SB>2</SB>)n- or H-(OCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>)m-(CH<SB>2</SB>)l- (wherein n is 2-10; m is 1-50; and l is 0 or 1)] and the humectant includes the compound as an active ingredient and can be utilized in the field of cosmetics and the like.
