PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic fiber for safety nets, which is suitable to a safety net having sufficient knitted fabric tenacity, and to provide a method for producing a safety net using the same. SOLUTION: The synthetic fiber for safety net has a tenacity of 5.0-9.0 cN/dtex, and a heat shrinkage stress of 0-1.0 mN/dtex; further, it is preferable that the fiber has a dry heat shrinkage of 0-5.0% at 150°C and a total fineness of 400-2,200 dtex. The method for producing the safety net includes knitting the synthetic fibers and heat-setting the resultant knitted fabric. Further, it is preferable that the heat-setting temperature is 150-200°C and the heat-setting treatment time is 0.5-3 min. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
