PURPOSE: A power factor correcting circuit and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by determining an overvoltage without the direct sensing of an output voltage. CONSTITUTION: An inductor(L1) receives an input voltage and supplies output power. A power switch controls the inductor current flowing in the inductor. An auxiliary inductor(L2) is coupled with the inductor with a preset winding ratio. A power factor controller(2) determines the overvoltage of the output voltage. An overvoltage protection unit(22) includes an input peak voltage generator, a duty voltage generator, and a protection comparator. |
