The invention relates to a rudder engine for a rudder of a ship, having a stationary stator to be mounted on a hull, a rotor disposed rotatably about a rotational axis, a chamber formed between the stator and the rotor having a fluid present therein, at least one vane disposed on the rotor or on the stator and dividing the chamber into at least two sub-chambers, wherein the fluid can be delivered from one sub-chamber into the other for driving the rudder engine, and a seal disposed on the vane, on which the fluid present in the sub-chambers can exert contact pressure by means of an feed line, for sealing two sub-chambers by the fluid present in the sub-chambers. According to the invention, a check valve (51, 52) is provided in the feed line (50, 501), designed and provided for maintaining the contact pressure on the seal (5, 5R) in case of a pressure loss in at least one of the sub-chambers (W1, W2). |
