The tub-shaped container (1) for glass production, comprises a heating device for controlling heating of a glass bath present in the container. The container is formed above the glass bath as a closed container and is equipped with a radiation heater (2) that extends over the glass bath in the container. The radiation heater has a jacketed jet pipe and a recuperative burner. Boron is evaporated from the glass bath in the operation. The radiation heater is dimensioned so that the surface of the glass bath forms a saturated concentration of evaporated material in near area (4).
