<p>PURPOSE: A device for driving an electric motor of an air conditioner, capable of improving energy efficiency, is provided to reduce distortion due to high-frequency currents by using a matrix converter as a power conversion device for driving an electric motor. CONSTITUTION: A device for driving an electric motor of an air conditioner comprises an power conversion part(220), a polarity detecting part, and a controller(230). The power conversion part comprises a plurality of switching elements. The input power source is changed into an output AC power source of a fixed frequency in order to drive an electric motor(250) by using the switching operation of the switching elements. The polarity detecting part detects the polarity information of the AC power source that is outputted from the power conversion part to the electric motor. The controller outputs the switching control signal controlling the switching elements based on the switching timing information of the switching elements or the detected polarity information.</p> |
