PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for detecting a vertex on the screen of a mobile terminal are provided to accurately detect a vertex without an existing vertex adjustment step in a touch screen mobile phone. CONSTITUTION: An edge detection unit(140) detects a candidate straight line group, and a vertex detection unit(130) removes, from the candidate straight line group, the candidate straight lines having an angle between a reference candidate straight line and the rest candidate straight line lower than a threshold angle. The vertex detection unit detects, as the optimal vertex, the cross point at which the distance between the cross point a residual candidate straight line and the inputted vertex position is minimum. |
