Disclosed is the preparation and uses thereof of 6-hydroxy-8-{(R)-1-hydroxy-2-[2-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-1,1-dimethylethylamino]-ethyl}-4H-benzo[1,4]oxazin-3-one hydrochloride as an enantiomerically pure compound and represented by the formula I, with an enantiomeric purity of at least 85% enantiomeric excess (ee), optionally in the form of a tautomer, mixture of the tautomers, hydrate or solvate thereof. Also disclosed is the use of an enantiomerically pure compound as defined above for preparing a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of respiratory complaints.
