PURPOSE: A display device and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the distortion of pixel data by detecting leakage current of active switching elements and adaptively controlling the update cycle of pixel data. CONSTITUTION: A display panel comprises data lines, scan lines, active switching elements, and pixels. A data driving unit(102) supplies data to the data lines. A scan driving unit(103) successively supplies scan pulses to the scan lines. A frame frequency control unit(105) varies the frame frequency according to leakage current flowing in the off operation of the active switching elements. A display module controller(101) supplies input data to the data driving unit at the frame frequency determined by the frame frequency control unit. A system board supplies timing signals along with the input data to the display module controller.
