摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having a small irreversible capacity at initial charging and discharging and superior charge and discharge cycle characteristics, and to provide a negative electrode material capable of forming the lithium secondary battery, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery has a negative-electrode material for the lithium secondary battery which has graphite of which wettability to water is 0-50°, in a solid liquid face contact angle (θ) and natural polysaccharide or its derivative to cover its surface and a negative electrode containing the negative-electrode material. It is preferable that in the negative electrode material, the thickness of the natural polysaccharide or its derivative to cover the surface of the graphite be 1-20 nm. The negative-electrode material for the lithium secondary battery can be manufactured by the manufacturing method, having a process in which the graphite is dispersed, in a solution in which the natural polysaccharide or its derivative is dissolved in water.
