PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small base station and operation control method thereof in which interference between a small cell and a macro cell or interference between small cells is reduced and service continuity is maintained. SOLUTION: The small base station includes: a control part for switching the small base station to a standby mode; and a communication part which sends a signal to a base station recognizing channel when the small base station is switched to the standby mode. If there is no terminal positioned in a small cell, the control part switches to the standby mode and upon switching to the standby mode, the communication part sends a signal to the base station recognizing channel on which a terminal recognizes presence of the small cell. Thus, interference between small cells or interference between a small cell and a macro cell is minimized and power consumption is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
