PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water repellent metal coated material fabricated by a relatively easy method, which is highly water-repellent, is capable of preserving its water repellency for a long time, and exhibits excellent coating film adhesion. SOLUTION: The water repellent coated metal material includes a metal material, an undercoat layer formed at least on one face of the metal material, with the undercoat layer constituted of an organic resin containing hydrophilic fine particles, and a water repellent finish coat layer formed thereon. The finish coat layer is of an arithmetic mean coarseness of from 1.5 to 5.0 μm and of a mean length of a contour curvilinear element of from 10 to 50 μm. The organic resin of the undercoat layer includes at least one species of resins selected from an epoxy resin, a polyester resin, an acrylic resin, and a urethane resin. The basis weight of the undercoat layer is from 0.5 to 10.0 g/m<SP>2</SP>. The fine particles are formed of silicon dioxide. The mean particle diameter of the fine particles of silicon dioxide is greater than the thickness of a part of the undercoat film wherein the fine particle is absent and is from 3 to 12 μm. The content of the fine particles of silicon dioxide present in the undercoat layer is from 5 to 50 pts.wt. relative to 100 pts.wt. of the aggregate amount of the organic resin and the fine particles of silicon dioxide.
