PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition capable of imparting excellent abrasion resistance and wet performance, and to provide a tire using the rubber composition. SOLUTION: This rubber composition includes: a rubber component which contains an aromatic vinyl compound-conjugated diene compound copolymer, the amount of a cis-1,4 bond of the conjugated diene compound part is≥80%; and metallic soap. The copolymer is obtained by addition polymerization of the aromatic vinyl compound and a conjugated diene compound in the presence of a polymerization catalyst composition containing at least one specific metallocene complex selected from the metallocene complex etc., represented by general formula (I) (wherein M is lanthanoid, scandium or yttrium; Cp<SP>R</SP>s are each independently an unsubstituted or substituted indenyl; R<SP>a</SP>-R<SP>f</SP>are each independently a 1-3C alkyl group, L is a neutral Lewis base, and w is an integer of 0-3).
