In an adhesively bonded and insulated large railway rail connection, an insulating insert is provided between the front faces of the rail ends. Arranged around the screws, which draw together, of the plates adhesively bonded onto the side of the rail web are insulating rings which consist of a material which is suitable for absorbing the force effects and has great compression strength and form a gap-free joint. The fatigue limits of the rail connection can thus be considerably widened. <IMAGE>
