PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that improves image quality by suppressing, for example, nonuniform density of a developed image. SOLUTION: A power source unit 50 variably controls the DC component and AC component of a development bias voltage respectively according to a change in load on a developing sleeve. The development bias voltage which is variably controlled according to each color (Y, M, C, K) is applied from an output terminal 56 to the developing sleeve in each color. Since outputs of the DC component and AC component are respectively controlled, the development bias voltage can be controlled according to a change in load on each developing sleeve without relying on various photoreceptor characteristics and the quality of a developed image can be improved.
