PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device improved in safety to the eyes.

SOLUTION: The illumination device 100 is provided with a semiconductor laser element 110 as an excitation light source for emitting laser beams, a phosphor plate 120 which includes a phosphor to emit light with a desired color and to which laser beams emitted from the semiconductor laser element 110 is irradiated, a light receiving element part 130 which detects reflection light from the phosphor plate 120, and a light source control part which controls the laser beams emitted from the semiconductor laser element 110 based on the detection signal from the light receiving element part 130.
