<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, a control method and a program for improving the convenience of the update processing of firmware by a user. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a CPU 304 and flash memories 307-310. The CPU 304 specifies and acquires a differential package whose update has been generated from an update server 311, and acquires package information from the differential package. Furthermore, the CPU specifies the flash memory being the installation destination of the differential package from the package information, and calculates an update processing time in installing the differential package in the flash memory.
