PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein the mixed gas of hydrogen and oxygen under a high pressure, particularly under a low pressure, causes a backfire and is unusable for continuous operation. SOLUTION: (1) A plate made of a porous ceramic material is put in the upper part of a water tank instead of a conventional backfire preventive instrument. A means is thereby provided for delaying the speed of the backfire and preventing a backfire of the hydrogen-oxygen mixed gas together with water in the tank to solve the problem. Automatic restoration can also be attained with this instrument. (2) A system is provided for forming a wall made of a porous ceramic material or a stainless net in a pipe through which hydrogen gas passes, providing a temperature or optical sensor sensing flames from the outside of the pipe, and allowing a solenoid valve to change the flow of gas in an instant by a signal during passing of flames to prevent a backfire.
