<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polyester which is suitable for optical uses little colored after molded, because the aromatic polyester has not only excellent heat resistance and transparency, but also good flowability at a relatively low temperature of <300°C in spite of a high molecular weight. <P>SOLUTION: The aromatic polyester comprises polyhydric phenol residues and the residues of a polybasic aromatic carboxylic acid, an acid halide or acid anhydride thereof. In the aromatic polyester, the polyhydric phenol residues comprise polyhydric phenol residues represented by formula (I): -O-Ar-W<SP>1</SP><SB>x</SB>-Ar-O- and/or formula (II): -O-Ar-O- and bulky polyhydric phenol residues represented by formula (III): -O-Ar-W<SP>2</SP>-Ar-O-, wherein the molar ratio of the polyhydric phenol residues represented by formula (I) and/or formula (II) to the polyhydric phenol residues represented by formula (III) is 100:0 to 30:70 (excluding 100:0). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
