PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaporator having excellent drainage performance of condensation water generated on the surfaces of fins. SOLUTION: In the evaporator, between a pair of header tanks arranged at an interval vertically, a plurality of sets 44 comprising a plurality of flat heat exchange pipes 45 which are arranged with the width direction facing the fore-and-aft direction at intervals in the fore-and-aft direction, are arranged at intervals in the right/left direction. The corrugated fins 5 are arranged between the sets 44 of the heat exchange pipes 45 adjacent to each other in the right/left direction. The width in the fore-and-aft direction of a clearance 43 formed between the heat exchange pipes 45 adjacent to each other in the fore-and-aft direction in each set 44 is set to be 1.5-3.5 mm.
