The architecture according to the invention comprises a passive radar system using opportunistic transmitters and a plurality of active radar systems which cooperate in the form of a coalition in order to monitor an area in space. The passive radar system and the active radar systems forming the architecture comprise means for exchanging information, and the passive radar system is configured so as to adopt two alternating operating modes: a "standby" mode in which the passive radar system monitors the area in space in question and generates detection information relating to the objects in the monitored area; an "on-demand data-supplying" mode in which the passive radar system, upon the request by one or more active radar systems, searches for an object in a given sector of the monitored area, or analyzes certain characteristics of the signal received in a given sector defined by distance, velocity, and azimuth values; wherein the data generated by the passive radar system following a request are transmitted to the active radar system(s) having issued said request.
|
