A method includes generating (302) a regulated voltage for a powered component (102, 202) and modifying (310-314) the regulated voltage with an adaptive voltage scaling (AVS) control loop (120, 112, 130, 220, 212, 230). The method also includes further modifying (306-308) the regulated voltage using at least one additional control loop (126, 128, 226, 228). The AVS control loop is isolated from the at least one additional control loop. Modifying the regulated voltage with the AVS control loop could include storing an AVS digital value and converting the AVS digital value into an analog signal. Modifying the regulated voltage with the AVS control loop could also include modifying a control signal for a voltage regulator (124, 224) using the analog signal, where the voltage regulator generates the regulated voltage. Modifying the regulated voltage with the AVS control loop could further include buffering the analog signal and outputting the buffered analog signal as an isolated AVS signal over the AVS control loop. |
