PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detoxifying asbestos which can perform detoxification treatment of asbestos in a short time. SOLUTION: The method for detoxifying asbestos includes an ultrasonic treatment process of immersing the asbestos in a mixed liquid containing a fluorine compound and acid and applying ultrasonic vibration to the immersed asbestos. The acid is at least one selected from sulfuric acid and citric acid. The method for detoxifying asbestos has a crushing treatment process of crushing the asbestos in a wet state before immersing the asbestos in the mixed liquid. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
