<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device which suitably and stably gives an assist force even at the execution of power assist control based on a steering angle. <P>SOLUTION: A self-steer suppression control part 32 includes a damping control amount operation part 37, and the damping control amount operation part 37 operates a damping control amount Idp* in a direction (reverse code) for cancelling an alternative assist control amount Isb* operated based on the steering angle θs while making as a basic component of the alternative assist control based on the rotational angular velocity ωm of a motor 12.
