<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide aqueous ink which has high permeability to plain paper and gives a recorded image high image density. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous ink contains water and a self-dispersion pigment, and has the surface tension of 34 mN/m or less.
