PURPOSE: An image forming apparatus including a firmware is provided to efficiently updating the firmware by informing the update processing time. CONSTITUTION: An update module is obtained from a supply source of modules which comprises a firmware(S503). Module information is obtained based on the update module(S504). A memory mean in which the update modules are installed is specified by the module information. Update processing information required for installing the update module to the memory mean is calculated. The information is outputted based on the update processing information(S506).
