<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member which can maintain a high performance antireflective effect over a long period of time with respect to an arbitrary substrate. <P>SOLUTION: The optical member includes a multilayer body formed on the surface of the substrate. In the optical member, at least one layer is a metal oxide layer 27 having a pore, and at least one layer mainly comprising an organic resin 26 is arranged between the substrate 25 and the metal oxide layer 27. The metal oxide layer is a plate-like crystal layer comprising a plate-like crystal mainly containing aluminum oxide, and the surface of the plate-like crystal layer has projections and recesses.
