PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of axle, capable of enhancing quality of a weld zone as well as the yield. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of an axle includes: an abutting process in which spindles 3a, 3b are abutted on both ends of a shaft body 2; a detecting process in which an AE wave is generated in a vibration generating part 11 arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the shaft body 2 and in which the AE wave propagated from the shaft body 2 to the spindles 3a, 3b is detected, in a pair of vibration detecting parts 12a, 12b each arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the spindles 3a, 3b abutted on both ends of the shaft body 2; and a determining process in which a sample line is set from a moving average value calculated from a prescribed extraction width and from a standard deviation, with respect to each output signal from the pair of vibration detecting parts 12a, 12b, in which frequencies of coincidence between an output signal and the value of the sample line are each extracted as determination values, and in which presence/absence of abnormality of the abutting parts 5a, 5b is determined based on these pairs of determination values.
